WHAT IS THE CURRICULUM?
The Diploma Programme (DP) curriculum is illustrated by a circle to align with the other IB programmes and the IB’s continuum education. The DP includes:
- The six subject groups, from which students select their subjects. Normally three subjects are studied at higher level (courses representing 240 teaching hours), and the remaining three subjects are studied at standard level (courses representing 150 teaching hours).
- The three core components: Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, and Creativity, Activity, Service – which are compulsory and central to the philosophy of the Diploma Programme.
- Approaches to teaching and learning in the inner circle of the model demonstrating the DP’s commitment to particular pedagogical approaches to teaching and to developing particular skills for learning.
