Pre-K Sports Day, what a glorious day it was! From the moment those bright smiles hit the sunshine to the final joyous cheers, it was a whirlwind of movement, teamwork, and pure kid-sized fun.
Forget your traditional sprints and relays – our little champions embarked on adventures far more fantastical! They enjoyed dancing along to music while (playing musical chairs with the moms), navigated treacherous (pool noodles balloon race), and chased mischievous butterflies across the meadow (colorful bean bag obstacle race!). Each station teemed with laughter, encouragement, and maybe just a tad of friendly competition (tug a war with the moms!).
Winning wasn’t the only treasure of the day. Every wiggle, every wobble, every triumphant giggle was a victory in itself. We saw teamwork blossom as tiny hands helped tiny hands over hurdles, and sportsmanship sparkle as cheers erupted all around. And amidst the playful chaos, a sense of community bloomed brighter than any sunflower.

What an incredible journey we have had, and it is all thanks to your hard work, dedication, and, most importantly, your passion for swimming! The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of excitement as we have been learning, practicing, and preparing for some of the students’ first-ever swimming gala.
Our journey began with safety. You have all learned how to enter and exit the pool safely, ensuring that you are always in control when you are near the water. Safety is our number one priority! We practiced submerging our heads underwater and blowing bubbles. This essential skill helps you get comfortable with the water and builds your confidence.
The students displayed remarkable sportsmanship. A couple of the students had very close final races and the sportsmanship was amazing to witness when one student shook the other one’s hand and said, “Well done, thank you for teaching me”. This is what we strive towards daily in our PE and swimming lessons.
We must also acknowledge the fantastic effort you put into preparing for the gala. You had less than nineteen hours, and your commitment was outstanding! This event was not only about the medals but also about developing skills and abilities that will last a lifetime. Some of you had never performed in a gala before, let alone in front of your parents. Your bravery and teamwork were truly exceptional.
The Gala Highlights:
Students who finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the final races received medals and certificates as recognition of their incredible achievements. Students who finished 4th and 5th received certificates as well. These awards will be cherished memories that you, as students, can look back on with immense pride.
This gala was just the beginning. It laid the foundation for your continued learning, development, and proficiency in swimming skills in grade 7 at MYP. We cannot wait to see your progress and achievements as you keep moving forward.
In closing, I want to congratulate each one of you for your remarkable efforts and thank everyone for their teamwork and support. Together, we made this experience truly special.
Looking ahead to grade 7 at MYP, we are excited to see you continue to make waves in the world of swimming. Keep up the fantastic work, Swim Stars! 🏊♂️🌟.

At JKS, our students are spoilt for choice. This term students were able to choose from a variety of internationally recognized activities to improve their communication and leadership skills. From Tedx to THIMUN to Mark It Day, students took control and demonstrated how creative they can be. Collaboration was the name of the game as the student council worked with the prefect team and the MUN Executive Board to provide opportunities for personal growth and enjoyment. We are proud of our students, and we wish them success as they progress towards becoming the future leaders of our country.

As MYP and DP students at an IB school, mastering the skill of managing your learning is crucial for academic success and personal growth. To begin with, prioritize your tasks by setting clear goals and deadlines for assignments and projects. Use your planner or digital tools to effectively organize your schedule.
Additionally, adopt active learning strategies such as summarizing, asking questions, and making connections to deepen your understanding of subjects. Seek support or assistance from teachers, peers, and online resources when facing challenges or needing clarification. Remember to maintain a healthy balance between academics and personal well-being by making time for relaxation and hobbies.
Embrace feedback as a valuable tool for improvement, whether it comes from teachers, classmates, or self-assessment. Stay adaptable and open-minded, as learning is a continuous journey filled with opportunities for growth and discovery.
By taking responsibility of your learning process, you will not only succeed academically but also develop skills that will benefit you long after you leave classroom.

Furthermore, being punctual creates a conducive learning environment that allows students to make the most of their educational opportunities and participate actively in class. Assessment criteria serve as navigational tools, guiding students through the complexities of effectively completing tasks and obtaining higher levels on tasks. By outlining specific criteria such as organizational skills, creative content, and language proficiency, rubrics provide a structured framework for improving skills. Rubrics act as roadmaps, helping students understand and meet expectations, developing a systematic approach to refining their responses. This guidance ensures that students not only grasp the key elements of completing a task successfully, but also empowers them to consistently apply and enhance these skills throughout their academic journey.
To enhance writing skills, students can leverage writing rubrics to improve the structure and organization of their writing, effectively citing evidence, adding personal engagement, and enhancing language through appropriate vocabulary, varied sentence structures, and forms of expression. These criteria promote continual improvement by encouraging students to seek feedback and revise their work systematically. Embracing the guidance provided by rubrics empowers students to produce high-quality, impactful writing, leading to success in their academic endeavors.

Model United Nations (MUN) conferences play a crucial role in cultivating a global perspective among participants. Through engaging in diplomatic activities, delegates gain a deeper understanding of various international issues and learn about different cultural, political, and economic backgrounds. By collaborating with peers from different parts of the world, delegates improve their cross-cultural communication skills, and learn how to how to negotiate and compromise effectively.
The research required for MUN topics encourages participants to delve into the complexities of global challenges, which in turn promotes critical thinking and analytical abilities. By taking on the roles of different countries, delegates can see things from different perspectives and develop a greater appreciation for global diversity. Ultimately, MUN helps individuals develop a sense of global citizenship, enabling them to make a meaningful contribution to addressing international issues and fostering a more interconnected and peaceful world.

Inquiry-based learning is a powerful tool used to improve students’ critical thinking abilities. By participating in activities that require a student to investigate, analyze, and evaluate, they are encouraged to take control of their learning journey. Unlike traditional teaching methods that rely on direct explanation, inquiry-based learning enables students to investigate and discuss ideas, generate solutions, and draw conclusions through independent investigation and discussion.
In our classrooms, inquiry-based learning is integrated across various subjects, bringing learning to life in various ways. In science labs, students conduct experiments to explore the properties of matter and understand chemical reactions.
In mathematics, abstract concepts are applied to real-world scenarios, enabling students to solve complex problems. Similarly, in art and culinary arts classes, students experiment with different arts and explore social issues through an artistic lens and thorough research. In Culinary Arts students research the history of home economics, the origins of specific foods, and compare different types of kitchen cleaning equipment, examining factors like efficiency, environmental impact, and cost-effectiveness.
Across disciplines, inquiry-based learning promotes global awareness, preparing students to actively engage with the complexities of the world around them.

Fashion has been and always will be a constant part of our existence. While many people view fashion as ephemeral and frivolous, I see it as a creative, enterprising, multifaceted industry that is vital to our economic and personal well-being. Fashion truly does matter.
The way we choose to dress reflects how we see the world and how we want the world to see us. From the Stone Age man with the latest shell beads, the post-war woman in Dior’s New Look, to the latest fashion blog recording street style in real-time – is tied to our innate need to express individuality.
Clothing not only has the power to build relationships when worn, but also when made. An excellent example of this is artist Whitney McVeigh’s project ‘1000 Coats’, where 100 women from different backgrounds are each sewing 10 coats. Through workshops teaching sewing skills, this project not only empowers women with new abilities but also encourages collaboration, community-building, and the formation of new partnerships.
Fashion Futures 2030 explores into what fashion and nature may look like in four potential scenarios. These scenarios examine current trends – such as climate change, nationalism, and artificial intelligence – and allow industry professionals, fashion educators, and students to contemplate the radically different future that lies ahead.
Looking ahead to 2050, fashion will be a breathtaking fusion of technology, sustainability, and creativity. Clothing will become a canvas for self-expression, incorporating smart features, shape-shifting properties, and interactive elements.
Ultimately, it is up to us to participate in order bring a positive change with our personified fashion trends.
